Jon Meacham

An American presidential historian is Jon Meacham. He also works as a journalist, writer, and editor. He previously held the positions of executive editor and executive vice president at the Random House publishing company. He currently teaches political science at Vanderbilt University and contributes to The New York Times Book Review.

Additionally, in 2009, he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Biography or Autobiography for his book American Lion: Andrew Jackson in the White House. Additionally, Ellis K. Meacham, a well-known judge from Chattanooga, Tennessee, is his grandparent.

In January 1995, Jon Meacham began working as a journalist for Newsweek. Following this, he published a number of well-known books, including Voices in Our Blood: America’s Best on the Civil Rights Movement, Franklin and Winston: An Intimate Portrait of an Epic Friendship, American Lion: Andrew Jackson in the White House, The Soul of America: The Battle for Our Better Angels, and others.

For his book American Lion: Andrew Jackson in the White House, which was published in 2009, he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Biography or Autobiography.

Television career:

From May 2010 until April 2011, Meacham and Alison Stewart co-hosted the PBS program Need to Know. Additionally, he has made a guest appearance on Morning Joe on MSNBC and has made several appearances on the HBO comedy series Real Time with Bill Maher.
